Includes an excerpt, detailing Brinton's military experiences, from a previously-published personal history. Provides numerous details regarding his different training camps, his duties while stationed there, his daily routines, and his application and subsequent acceptance to Officer Candidate School. Discusses the rigor of OCS at Camp Barkeley, Texas, and the advice he received from upperclass-men, to which he credits his successful completion and eventual commission. Describes his first assignments as an officer prior to his transfer to the 15th Air Force headquarters in Naples, Italy. There, he served on the medical staff and evaluated the medical competence of Air Force personnel. Provides, in great detail, Brinton's impressions of the Italian people, his surroundings, and the horrible toll that war was taking on the populous. Includes many references to the joy he experienced from associating with other LDS servicemen, serving in church leadership positions, and the protection he received due to adherence to his moral standards. Photographs show Brinton in full military dress and together with the medial department at headquarters. Also included is a photograph of the Italian building where the 15th Air Force was headquartered.

Brinton served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942-1946 during World War II. He was a member of the 15th Air Force, headquartered in Italy, and worked in the Medical Department.
